As a member of the House of Delegates for the past 14 years, I have worked tirelessly for the citizens of the 38th district. Below are just a few of the things I am most proud of:
- I HAVE NEVER VOTED FOR A TAX INCREASE because the citizens of West Virginia have enough of a tax burden.
- I VOTED TO REDUCE THE TAX ON FOOD. Beginning July, 2008, the food tax will be 3%.
- I WAS REGISTERED AS A "NO" VOTE ON THE RECENT PAY INCREASE FOR THE LEGISLATURE.
- I HAVE ALWAYS WORKED FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. By supporting the reduction in the corporate net income tax and eliminating the business franchise tax, businesses are more willing to invest in West Virginia.
- I HAVE ALWAYS SUPPORTED SENIOR ISSUES. I have worked to secure additional funding for in-home senior care. I have provided funding for the local senior citizens center, including help with the computer lab, nutrition program, and many other programs provided by the local senior center.
- I HAVE ALWAYS SUPPORTED EDUCATION ISSUES. I have worked very closely with local superintendent and Board of Education members to improve school safety. I have provided funding for the Safe Schools Program, cameras on all buses, and many other school projects.
- I HAVE ALWAYS HELPED WITH YOUTH PROGRAMS. I have worked to secure funding for many youth programs, including the Lewis County 4-H Foundation and the Lewis County Youth League Baseball (lights for the field, new office, and handicapped accessible bathrooms). I also secured funding to complete the new facilities building at Lewis County High School and a local basketball tournament.
- I HAVE WORKED TO SECURE FUNDING FOR INFRASTRUCTURE. I have worked with business and local officials to secure funding for WATER LINE EXTENSIONS, such as Alum Bridge, Town Run Road, and southern Lewis County. I have also secured funding for SEWER LINE EXTENSIONS.
- I HAVE WORKED FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. I have collaborated with elected officials and the Economic Development Authority to create jobs and bring several businesses to Lewis County, while securing funding the Jane Lew Industrial Park.
- OTHER PROJECTS THAT I HAVE WORKED WITH OTHERS TO OBTAIN FUNDING TO BENEFIT LEWIS COUNTY ARE:
- Jane Lew Historical Museum
- Mountaineer Military Museum
- Lewis Bennett Public Library
- Lewis County Court House
- Lewis County Sheriff's Office
- Weston Police Department
- Various local Volunteer Fire Departments
- and many other projects
- But more than anything, I HAVE PRIDED MYSELF IN LISTENING TO MY CONSTITUTENTS AND VOTING IN A MANNER WHICH REPRESENTS THEIR CONCERNS.
The ONLY CAMPAIGN PROMISE I will make is that I will work hard for you and be your voice in Charleston in a manner that the people of the 12th senatorial district deserve and expect. I ASK FOR YOUR VOTE AND SUPPORT to make the 12th Senatorial District the best place in West Virginia to work and raise a family.
